The finale movie, end of evangelion, is by far my favorite film of all time, and i watch a shitload of movies (i've watched a little over 300 this year for reference). The series is a deep and complex psychological one, revolving around the pilot of evangelion unit 01 who ultimately helps in the forced evolution of humanity where all souls merge to become a single entity, thus finally achieving peace by subduing his negative emotions. It's still the most unique, complex and infinitely fascinating piece of fiction i've ever come across and i never get tired of trying to figure it out.
